"Embracing the Quiet"
Location: Shenandoah National Park, (Mile Post 27.6)
Thornton Hollow Overlook. Elevation 2,460 ft.
On this particular morning the weather changed rapidly as clear roads gave way to snow covered roads as i reached the higher elevations above 1500 feet. Here a light dusting of snow coats the ground as the sun rises in the distance. It was a windy morning causing some of the snow to drift and blow through the air in front of the morning light. Ice sparkled on tree limbs in the distance creating a truly majestic scene. I was looking forward to simply enjoying the quietness of the dawn, as I was not really expecting much of a sunrise due to conflicting weather reports that called for cloudy skies. Some experiences in Nature are best seen and experienced by being there and seeing with the natural eye and the human senses. I hope you enjoy this image as much as I enjoyed capturing it.
